Be the Light….

Revelations 21:23-24 The nation does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light and the Lamb is the light. The nations will walk by its light and the kings of the earth will bring splendor to it.

Imagine a place where there was no more pain, suffering, not even another bad day or stormy cloud to cover the sun. In this passage, John described heaven. He described how the city itself didn’t need a sun or a moon because the glory of God and the Lamb was more than enough light for the city. The nations walked by its light and the kings of earth brought splendor to God and the Lamb. This may be hard to imagine for some people but it really is never to late to start believe, especially with it being the New Year. This past year has had many tragedies and the world around us continues to grow darker it seems, which is why more than ever we, as children of God need to step into our role to be the salt AND light to this world. We have the opportunity to be a light in this world because we have the Lamb in us. As He is a light in heaven, we can be a light in this world  and even more so shine like the glory of God, as long as we never forget where our light source comes from. we can walk in the way of the light and be kings and queens on earth for Christ and one day see Him in heaven.

The most beautiful thing happened to me at church the other day. We had a special guest speaker and he brought with him a crew of amazing singers who were all children. As the day the first service ended I was blessed to be able to dance beside them during the ending worship. As second service started, I was able to dance with them once more so inspired by how care free and innocent they all were. By the ending song, I was worshiping God on bended knees and as the song ended a little girl turned to me and asked me why I was crying. I couldn’t help to tell her that I was happy that it was because we were able to be loved by a great God. As children they are the light and the inspiration this world needs. S.I.N.G is a children singing group meaning Sowing Into the Next Generation. Those children can sing, too. More than anything they are a true inspiration on how we must be, a child at heart for the Lord. These children will grow up but it doesn’t mean that there heart has to. I’ve always liked being a child at heart. Personally for being a child at heart means to always look at the brighter side of things and encouraging others to do the same, and of course, to always follow our Fathers advice. Daddy always knows best. Though we may age mentally and physically, our spirit can help us stay young at heart so that we in return can be the light in this world that needs a lights to help shine through the darkness until we join the God and the Lamb in heaven.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the beautiful reminder on why I am here on earth, to shine like a light just as an innocent and loving child. Father God you always know how to talk to me whether it be through someone else or even through our alone time together. As we take this step into the New Year Father I pray that we can remember to be a light that you can use whenever called upon. Jesus, guide us in your ways so that people will see you instead of us. Forgive us of our sins Lord for we know we have many but through the blood of the Lamb we are made new once more. Help us to have your eyes today Lord as we look for opportunities to shine your light in this world that so desperately needs you. Renew our soul, spirit and body. God, keep us protected with your full armor and grace. In Jesus Matchless name, amen.
